Outlook Express sending multiple copies of email with attachments
The Problem When I send an email, it goes through but I then get an error message
that says some errors have occurred while processing the requested
tasks. There are no errors listed below that. The email stays in my
outbox, even though it was sent, and keeps sending emails, sometimes
over 10 times and the recipients are complaining. It eventually leaves my outbox. I have been manually
deleting them after the get sent.
The Solution Outlook Express does not like folders larger than 2Gb in size so try renaming your Sent Items file. When OE restarts, it will recreate a
new empty sent items file.
The easiest way is to open the Outlook Express mail store. (you can find the path to the outlook express mail store in options > maintenance in outlook express.
1. Find the mail store path.
2. Copy the file path into start > run
3. This should open up your mail store. Close Outlook Express.
4. Find the file called *Sent Items.mbx* and rename it to something like *Sent Items.bak*
5. Restart Outlook Express. You will then see a new, empty sent items folder.
Note: Problem should be fixed and
you can use a program like DBXtract to get to the old data if needed but a note for the future: You must clean out old files regularly from the sent items
folder (Actually, all folders!) before it gets this big again!!
